WELCOME...

IMG_3631.PNG

You couldn’t get much more basic than the two of us . A five-foot brunette and an average-height blonde are putting their brains together to create yet another Gen Z related digital platform. Watch out, we might just get our egos boosted and start to think we are funny enough to create a podcast. We are nearing the end of our last year of study for a Bachelor of Communication degree. Throughout this magazine, we are channelling our hobbies onto paper. Coffee, sunset chasing, thrift shopping, crocheting, being plant mums, good music, and shit-talking. Join us for the ride.

To any boomers reading this - you may be confused.

“What's all this chat about the TikTok… and by Tea of the Week... Do you mean Red Seal raspberry and lemon tea? Because that's also our go-to…”

So what is Gen Z?

The technical definition of Gen Z is “the generational cohort following millennials, born between the late 1990s and early 2010s”.

We aim to incorporate all the goofy and lighthearted parts of what makes us Gen Z, but also present ourselves intelligently and in touch with real-world issues. Gen Z has a certain way of recognising and respecting everyone for who they are. We are opinionated baddies who aren't afraid to call people out on their BS and that is one of the small things that make us awesome.

So that's a bit about us. We are looking forward to dishing out content to y’all each week and interacting! In this issue you will be introduced to our fav music, some Tik Toks we are living by at the moment, some sweet as student deals, and of course the juiciest tea of the week.

Welcome to Morgan's Music for Monday! A place for the music obsessed. Here, you can find a curated playlist of the tunes I'm loving at the moment. It might be your cup of tea, it might not, but either way, give it a chance.

This week's theme is all about introductions, so I thought I'd just come to you with a big ol’ collection of my fav songs of the moment. I don't know if these songs speak for my mood at the moment, but I delegate you to figure it out.  Happy listening!

Tea of the Week is a weekly round-up of the juiciest tea and drama happening on the internet and around the world, so what’s happened this week?

Taylor Swift announced her new album ‘Midnights’ during her acceptance speech for Video of the Year at the VMAs. This came as a shock to fans and also the producers of the VMAs. The album will be released on Kim Kardashian’s birthday, October 21st. Is this a coincidence or are we still not over Kanye West’s interruption back in 2009?

Possibly the hottest tea of the week, Riverdale heart-throb KJ Apa has become a Samoan chief after receiving the matai (chief) title of Savae, during a traditional ceremony in Samoa held by his family. Apa’s partner, Clara Berry and co-star Charles Melton who plays Reggie in Riverdale, watched the ceremony. Apa received the same name as his uncle, also a former All Black, Sir Michael Jones. Later this month Apa and Berry’s son, Sasha, turns one year old.

Leonardo DiCaprio is once again a single man after splitting up with his girlfriend of five years, Camila Morrone. Dicaprio seems to follow a pattern with his dating life, as he’s never dated anyone over 25. Despite being 47 years old and the age gap growing, will this pattern continue?

Get excited because the second season of the Kardashians is coming out the 22nd of this September. Although Kim’s and Pete’s relationship is over, we get an insight into their relationship, plus more footage of Kourtney and Travis’s wedding and Kenny’s 818 tequila brand.

Back here in Aotearoa, the Tea continues…

The second Cost of Living payment came out this week, but it’s still not as appetising as the sugar daddy’s in my Instagram Dm’s offering $8000 a week.

The All Blacks came to the mighty H town on Saturday and absolutely thrashed Argentina with a score of 53-3. Our highlight was the 4 rebellious members of our Gen Z clan making a debut by trotting across the field offering spectators a humorous moment  and then watching them get tackled by security.

That is the Tea of this Week. However, our favourite tea is Wildberry from Healtheries. A cup of this before bed is what you need if you’re feeling lonely as the fruity taste dancin’ on your taste buds offers a flirty fulfilment to the end of your day.

Yung Gravy, Monty Lopez, Sheri Nicole and poor Addison Rae.

Damn Gravy, never felt so protective of my Mum before, but go Sheri Nicole you queen, slaying on TikTok.

Is this Yung Gravy and Sheri Nicole relo just a PR stunt or was that pash at the VMAs real, and if so… can someone check on Addison?

Van Life

Who doesn't want to travel now that the borders are open. Seeing TikToks of people travelling across Australia’s coast line in vans with friends living their best life is making me so salty because I can’t even afford cheese every week. As the quote goes-’I want to be rich in experiences’- but right now I want to be living in overalls, crocheting at the beach and listening to Aussie indie tunes.

Hot Girl Europe ‘Summer’ ?

Much like our jealousy towards people living the van life right now…. The amount of bitches on TikTok that are flaunting their hot girl Europe summers right now whilst we are sitting in a dark Wintec studio on a freaking Sunday afternoon is tear jerking. All in all, they're very entertaining to watch and are making us consider selling foot pics to be able to afford it ourselves. You might recognise the audio "if you’re gonna be sad you might as well be sad in Pairs"... Well Brittany, we're in Hamilton.

IT’S CORN!
If you haven't been living under a literal rock, you'll know all about the corn kid. A passionate and moving statement about how much this little boy loves corn has turned into quite possibly the most viral trend on tiktok right now. Being remixed into a song and used by all of TikTok, even large corporate businesses, this boy is the next yodelling kid.

Gabbie Hanna:

If you are a youtube OG, you'll know all about Miss Gabbie Hanna. In all seriousness, it breaks our hearts seeing her go through what appears to be a very public manic episode. She's going to have a lot of explaining to do in a few weeks when she hopefully comes to her senses. Claims such as being 'the human embodiment of Jesus Christ’' to saying that she is a minority and POC have got people absolutely ripping her a new one.

As we near the middle of the end of the year, our pockets are getting empty and we are on the hunt for cheap food to avoid the third night of ramen noodle sandwiches (a very low point.) Even though Aunty Cindy is hooking us up with the cost of living payment, we have to admit…. our ‘cost of living’ includes $7 lattes, emotional support almond croissants and the occasional Thursday night bevvy from House on Hood.

We are here to manipulate you into spending more money, but this time, with some half-ass student coupons that we found on the internet.

Keen to jump and flip away your uni problems? Head down to LEAP HAMILTON every Wednesday from 4-8 pm for $10.

Speaking of $7 lattes…. Screw that! The lovely ladies at Coffix will hook you up with the cheapest coffee in town.

Caught the travel bug from watching tiktoks of girlies on their ‘hot girl Europe summer trips’? Look no further than Mexico Hamilton. While you might not be leaving the Tron, if you close your eyes and listen to the Mexican tunes, breathe in the scents of authentic cuisine, BAM. You’re in Mexico baby.
